My intention is to explore the role of the artist/activist by negotiating the psychological terrain of taking a critical outsider political stance, whilst living in the dominant culture, resulting in a jarring fragmentation of self. This is reflected in the use of alter egos, the grotesque, parody and the creation of an absurdist, aggressive, visual language that transgresses into a new form of borderline schizophrenia.

Work of art I would like to make

I propose to stage a large scale version of my performance/video Safe Riot which you can view at http://www.alexismilne.com/video-page2.html
this would involve a punk band to play the soundtrack to contemporary footage of riots projected on to a large wooden wall. I would then have a 60's type folk /protest band playing the soundtrack to footage of riots in 1968. I would then orchestrate the participating audiences to throw polystyrene objects at the wall conducting a large scale safe riot. There would be several walls so the audience could break through each wall to another one, whilst the projections of riots are being played to a cacophony of noise from both era's. I have allready staged a small scale one (100 people) in deptford town hall as part of my degree show
