However hard you push or squash together two cheeks, peaches, hands, pillows, they will always be separate objects, however small the amount of air between them. Most of my work is anchored in the domestic, a setting I use to explore the choreography of relationships ...[more]

Work of art I would like to make

If I was chosen I would continue to explore the idea of closeness and relationships. I am enjoying making work that involves participants and is an experiential work. I like the ritualistic aspect of involving the audience as well as the work being activated by people. However I believe that the work should stand alone as a sculpture. My degree show piece was made in response to the space I was in and I would like to repeat this idea by designing an instillation specifically for the space. I would like to make a space that explores the tension moments before something touches, the touch and the separation, perhaps almost a shrine to these ideas.

I have been thinking a lot about constructing a pavilion that would house some sort of instillation to facilitate this moment of closeness between two people. I also like the idea of making the pavilion very separate from the outside world, perhaps by using a moat, and only being able to access the pavilion over a drawbridge or some sort of stepping stones made so that only two people can enter the pavilion at one time so that the moment inside becomes very special.
