Work of art I would like to make

My final degree piece 'Cher Ami' 2010 conveys the use of pigeons during World War One which were used to carry vital messages and stop motion cameras across enemy lines, subsequently saving hundreds of soldiers' lives. Although the birds were often hit by enemy gunfire in their attempt, many continued their long journey home.

Today however, pigeons are perhaps less appreciated or acknowledged by society. Considered as a metaphor, the use of an illuminated pigeon image highlights the distance many of us may experience from the effects of modern warfare; a distance of which can only be momentarily bridged by the media.

The price of the technical materials used to produce the installation, as well as the size limitations of the college laser cutter, directly impacted on the scale of the final degree work which ideally I would have liked to produce on a much larger scale in order to further enhance the impact of the work. Therefore I would like to develop the content and size of the work with a view to it being produced on a considerably larger scale.
