Work of art I would like to make

If I were chosen as one the 4 new sensations finalists I would aim to create work similar to my degree show mono-prints.

This responds well to the idea of a bleak and desolate world in 25 years..a world in ruins, gone to waste, no longer inhabitable and with lack of humans, only ghostly presences surviving. My inspiration comes from abandoned building in East German after the reunification where many people ran away never to return, leaving their worlds left untouched. I would go into this idea in more detail- creating images where only the idea of human presence can be sensed.

My installation based work aims to capture and recreate the atmosphere of a desolate abandoned building. I aim to gain an emotional response from the viewer confronted by images which fade into one another. Instead of hanging my work within the confines of a room I will hang my prints from the ceiling, thereby inviting the viewer to step under and into my work instead of into a room. They will be surrounded by these images and feel trapped and claustrophobic. Within these images will be never-ending tunnels and passages and rooms within rooms, heightening the sense of fear and uneasiness.
