Diane Haddon-Moore
(58 years old. Born in United Kingdom. Lives in: Andover)
Winchester School of Art

Performative work and painting are the two areas that interest me. Using life experience, memory and relationships, the things that establish our identity to create art, I have recently been working in an area where feminist, critical art and psychoanalytical theories intersect resulting in a body of work relating to mourning and melancholy and the lost object. This has been a very personal journey for me and one, that as I finish my degree is coming to an end. New adventures and challenges and ideas lay ahead and I am looking forward to exploring them.

Work of art I would like to make

What will the world be like in 25 years? If we examine how things have moved so quickly over the last 25? Scary, perhaps more so to me as a mature artist. Will I still be here to produce art in 25 years? It certainly brings home to me my own mortality. I think that this concept of our own mortality in a world that is becoming more complex and challenging on a daily basis for everyone is the subject I would work with.

I would like to produce a piece of art that has elements of performance but is ultimately a painting that would create for a viewer feelings of awe and wonderment at what human beings are likely to achieve in the next quarter century but also regrets for the mistakes and disasters we have made and will no doubt continue to make and create over this future period of time. To produce a realisation that we are all mortal no matter what the
world is like and what advances will come. I want to make people feel and think.
