I am currently interested in the functionality of objects and how different kinds of values are given to each object when placed in different environments. I am specifically looking at the difference between a prop which has a functional value, but only in the theatre, opposed to a sculpture in a gallery which has exchange and symbolic values, deriving from its historical context. The objects themselves are everyday, recognisable objects which have had their original functions taken away. They then become impractical and only ´┐Żuseful´┐Ż in an art or theatre space. I am exploring ideas of the prop, or object, performing without physical interaction and the use of spotlights enables the work to do this.

Work of art I would like to make

I would like to create an artwork which uses everyday objects in different ways. They would be useless, yet highly technical as i believe this is what the world will be like in the future. We will have gadgets for everything and eventually lose the ability to do everyday tasks.
