Art Diaries- Call for artists
http://www.4artinc.com/ARTISTS%20SUBMISSION/ArtDiaries/4ArtArtDiaries....
|
|
4Art Inc Gallery is currently seeking submissions for its stimulating new series:
Art Diaries is a provocative and original series that asks artists to look within themselves and visually 'write' what is usually unspoken. Each installment of art diaries asks artists to reflect and develop a concept around a given theme. It creates an interactive and diverse display of ideas, through the visual lens of different individuals, without actually reading, hearing, or speaking. Art Diaries explores what happens when something that is usually kept private is shared, becoming a process of universal visual communication from artist to artist and from artist to viewer. Artists are free in all aspects of creation, from the medium to the interpretation of the theme.

Art Erotica
http://www.http:arteroticaexhibition.co.uk
|
|
Open to all Media except video from living artists over the age of 18 worldwide.
Erotic art has a long and distinguished, if controversial, tradition in the history of modern art. Arguably, eroticism in art brings us closer to our humanity, yet there are few genres in the arts that have been as under-represented and unjustly maligned as expressions of what we, in all our rich diversity, find erotic. Enter now to be a part of the debate.
This is a high-profile opportunity to exhibit for artists producing work in the erotic genre. In four short years the Cork Street Open Exhibition, which attracts thousands of entries by emerging and established artists from around the world, grew to fill two large galleries in Mayfair, London's art-dealing centre.
Building on the success of this widely acclaimed annual event, the decision was made to introduce a second, themed competition. As with the original open exhibition, Art Erotica will benefit a selected charity and will be juried, with submitted work carefully and rigorously chosen by five leading figures in the UK art world. Edward Lucie-Smith will open the exhibition on behalf of this year's charity FPA at the Private View fundraiser.
The dates for Art Erotica are 19-27 January 2012
There is a limit of six entries per artist. Over the past 3 years the judges have stated that they find it easier to choose work by artists they have seen several entries from, as opposed to single entries. Therefore, in order to encourage multiple submissions, which are clearly to an artists' advantage, the fees for entries subsequent to the first submission have been reduced.
Registration which includes your first entry is £25, Additional entries are £14 each up to a total of six.
2012 PRIZES
The judges will award cash prizes for Best of Show and a Runner-Up. A Visitors' Choice Prize will be voted on by visitors throughout the Exhibition and announced at the end of the show. In addition there will be a Purchase Prize of £1,500 selected by the exhibition director and several Materials & Services prizes.
Additional prizes will be added to the website as they are confirmed.
- Grand Prize £1,500
- Runner Up Prize £750
- Visitors' Choice £500
- Purchase Prize £1,500
- Category Prizes Featuring Materials & Services: £250 AC Art & Framing Prize

Art for Darfur
http://www.tlightfo@smu.edu
|
|
As a result of the 5-year armed conflict in Darfur, over 2.5 million Sudanese citizens have been displaced from their homes; fleeing to neighboring Chad, other villages in Darfur or most commonly to refugee camps. These chaotic and over-crowded environments lead to rapidly-spreading diseases and shortages of food and water. We ask that you join us in the movement to save the lives of our fellow humans.
International pressure and internal resolutions bring slow change to the political instability of Sudan, while the suffering of refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) are ignored or neglected. Refugees and IDPs desperately need clean water, food and adequate medical attention.
Art for Darfur is a collective of students and non-profit organizations who strive to connect American citizens to the people of Darfur through the power of artist expression. The event will take place on Saturday, April 12, 2008 from 7-9 p.m. inside the Taubman Atrium at the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Art for Darfur will be an evening of a silent auction, food, music and speakers.
Art for Human Rights has chosen the International Rescue Committee (IRC) as the beneficiary of Art for Darfur. One-hundred percent of all money raised from the evening will go directly to the IRC’s work in Darfur and Eastern Chad providing clean-water wells and medical supplies. All donations to the IRC are tax-deductible.
Art for Darfur cannot exist without the support of socially and globally conscious artists. We are accepting art of any size, medium and theme. Your donation will bring hope to the lives of many suffering Darfurians. We ask that you would donate your artistic expression by Monday, March 31 2008. Please contact me at tlightfo@smu.edu or 214-235-5351.
You are encouraged to include advertising with your piece at the auction and in gratitude you will be recognized as a contributing artist at the event.
We must remember that after the genocide of the Holocaust the world repeated, “Never again.” It is time we put meaning and action to these words!

The MA in Visual and Critical Studies is designed for students interested in the scholarly and creative investigation of the production, dissementation, and impact of visual images and experiences. With the visual as a starting point, graduate students are offered multiple methods of critical investigation to study the interactions between visual phenomena and their historical, disciplinary, and social contexts. In one-to-one advising sessions, students are encouraged to build their own practices, through writing and/or visual media. The master's thesis is a particular focus for developing individual contributions and skills. A unique aspect of the MA in VCS is that it offers the option of combining studio and critical practices within the context of the field of visual and critical studies. For the master's thesis, students are encouraged to use vigorous and innovative approaches to research and analysis--and the formats with which they disseminate the outcomes of their explorations.

An art, literary, and music event to raise awareness of the effects of war, ethnic conflicts, and genocide on present and subsequent generations, in particular the stalemate struggle over Nagorno-Karabakh. All proceeds from the art, door, and auctions for the evening go to Doctors Without Borders. This organization is seeking Artists and Others to donate for Special Silent Auction for Doctors Without Borders this November! Preferred specs, not larger than 24” x 24” or 48 centimeters x 48 centimeters. Work larger than that must be ready for pick-up by September 1, 2008. If not local, it must be shipped by September 1, 2008 and delivered by October 1. Doctors Without Borders may choose to highlight your work as part of a holiday card series. To enter your donated piece for consideration, please include a quality digital photo on disk of the donated piece of art along with your work.

Membership in the Art League allows all members to enter three pieces on their monthly juried exhibitions. The Art League maintains a gallery on the ground floor of the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria. Membership is $45 a year and there's a $1.50 per piece entry fee for the juried shows. The jurors vary monthly, although the Art League seems to prefer jurors from academia and museums. Located at 105 N. Union Street in Old Town Alexandria, 703/683-1780.
