Drew University

Consisting of the College of Liberal Arts, the Drew Theological School and the Caspersen School of Graduate Studies, Drew University has a total enrollment of 2,506 students. The Theological and Caspersen schools offer degrees at the M.A. and Ph.D. levels, while the College annually confers B.A. degrees in 29 different disciplines. Located in the picturesque and friendly borough of Madison, New Jersey, Drew’s 186 acre, wooded campus is within walking distance of the Madison train station, which offers direct service to Midtown Manhattan’s New York Penn Station. The university is known for its small class sizes and personal attention to students. Ninety-four percent of Drew’s full-time faculty members hold terminal degrees in their areas of expertise, which makes high-quality mentorship the hallmark of a Drew education.

Location and Getting there

Drew is approximately one hour from the Jersey shore; New Hope, Pa.; the Poconos; the Delaware Water Gap State Park; and the Meadowlands, including Giants Stadium and the Continental Airlines Arena. Twenty minutes from the University are the headquarters of the U.S. Equestrian Team and the U.S. Golf Association. Within five miles of campus are the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, Morristown National Historic Park at Jockey Hollow, and Washington's Revolutionary War headquarters.

The Dorothy Young Center for the Arts is the home of Drew University's Art Department offering the Studio Art Major.

The Studio Area boasts an outstanding full-time and adjunct faculty of practicing artists, dedicated to both their art practice and teaching excellence. With the Department's move to the recently constructed state-of-the-art studios in the The Dorothy Young Center for the Arts, Drew's exceptional faculty is now teamed with a rare depth of facility: amazing studios, brilliant light, safety, technology, and space; highlight areas for painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, 2-D design, sculpture and ceramics with high-end facilities for computer art located in Brothers College. The building also affords space for an ample senior studio, which allows for the distillation of community within an artist's studio context giving foundation to a continued arts practice in a professional environment.

Drew University's Art Department is for serious students interested in the study of Studio practice in a highly competitive, supportive and personalized arts education environment with a sound liberal arts foundation.
