Vocational Pathways Fun Day and Art Auction
Release date: 19th December 2006

The Vocational Pathways group at Gloscat have held their Christmas Fun Day and Art Auction, and it has been hailed as a great success. Over £450 was raised on the day and over half of that amount was from the Art that was auctioned as the main event of the day.

The aim of the day was to raise funds for students in the Guided and Supported Learning Department. Many of these students do not have the opportunity of a simple holiday by the seaside, so each year the Vocational Groups run fundraising activities to help towards the cost.

Over 20 original artwork lots were sold, with Principal Greg Smith buying one for his home here in Gloucester and one for his home in Spain! Each painting had been specially crafted for the event on MDF board with either acrylic or poster paints.

Paul Wilson, Lecturer of Learning Difficulties and Disabilities who has organised this event said, “The students have worked incredibly hard to organise this excellent event and it was a great success! They spent many hours producing the artwork and organising the ra...  [ Read All ]

Student Testimonials

Induction week for the HND/C Graphics/Multimedia was really good. Everything was neatly wrapped into a single presentation and explained all in one go without becoming confusing. The new ‘Moodle’ service, albeit a ridiculous name!! is excellent and I have found myself relying on it already - if a presentation or brief is missed, catching up is easy to do.

Having already done a National Diploma course at Gloscat I was expecting to be slowly and painfully re-told everything I already knew but HND/C induction was done well enough to keep those of us who had been here before from becoming bored yet inform us and students who were new to Gloscat of everything they needed to know.

The grading system, deadlines and indeed deadline extensions were explained clearly. Overall the induction was enjoyable and informative. We were set of straight away with a choice of live briefs and our icebreaker involved coffee, cakes and a chance to chat to staff and other students, it was a relaxed but informative introduction to the course and Gloscat. There are definitely no complaints from the students – in fact a really positive start to th...  [ Read All ]
