Henderson State University
Henderson State University is one of only two American colleges in Arkansas originally established as a four-year, degree-conferring institution and is the second oldest university under state control. On-campus enrollment is some 3400 students. At present, degree programs are offered through the Matt Locke Ellis College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business, the School of Education (Teachers College Henderson), and the Graduate School. In addition to its own degree program in nursing, Henderson also provides the academic program for the Baptist School of Nursing. The University operates the only aviation degree program in Arkansas and offers pre-professional studies. Henderson also now confers three graduate degrees.
Hendersonâ€™s art department through the years is consistently one of the campus stars. It offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts for studio majors and a Bachelor of Science in Education for (US) public school art educators. Both programs have an outstanding reputation for placement and for a wide range of art experiences.
