Lubbock Christian University

Established in 1957 by members of the Churches of Christ, Lubbock Christian University's mission is to teach students the spiritual dimension of life, provide a quality education and impart a system of values for living and for service to family, community and church.

A framed copy of the "Proclamation of Values" is located in each office on our campus. These four core values serve as the cornerstones for our existence:

Faith in God - Believing that God has sustained the University we will act, trust and pray with God as the most vital force for our future.

People - are at the heart of the University. The satisfaction and well-being of students, faculty, staff, parents, and churches will be a concern to all.

Continuous Improvement - every area of campus will be expected to improve on a continuing basis.

Location and Getting there

From Lubbock International Airport:

Travel 2.5 miles on Martin Luther King Blvd.
Take West Loop 289 exit
Merge left onto Loop 289
Drive past the following exits: I-27, University Avenue, Littlefield, Quaker, 4th St.
Take the 114/East 19th St. exit. You will be heading east on 19th Street
Turn right at the second stoplight into the LCU campus
From Brownfield traveling NE on highway 62
NOTE: This area is under construction.

Stay on highway 62 until you reach Loop 289.
Turn right onto access road.
Travel approx. 1/4 mile and take left detour turnaround for east 62/North Loop 289.

Take the Lubbock Christian University/114/19th St. exit.
You will now be heading east on 19th Street.
Turn right at the second stoplight into the LCU campus.
From Crosbyton on highways 62, 82, and 114

Take right onto West Loop 289.
You will pass the following exits:
Martin Luther King Blvd/Airport, University Ave./I-27, Littlefield, Quaker, and 4th St.
Take the 114/East 19th St. exit. You will now be heading east on 19th Street.
Turn right at the second stoplight into the LCU campus.

Department and information about the department

The Department of Communication and Fine Arts includes the divisions of Organizational Communication, Visual Communication, Foreign Language, Music, Art Education, and Theater. In addition to strong academic requirements, each degree integrates a practical/performance component that allows the student to apply academic theory to real-life situations. These components include such experiences as internships, exhibitions, productions, recitals, and community work, depending upon the chosen academic degree.
