Location and Getting there

Located on the Main University Campus (Rathmell Building) in the village of Caerleon, we are about a ten minute bus ride from the City Centre of Newport. Besides the new on-campus bar and sports centre, the Students Union organise various events throughout the year, the highlight of which is the May Ball. You also have access to the restaurant and cafĂ© on campus and the Students' Union shop, selling pretty much everything you could need. If you choose to live on campus, don't let the fact that you’re in a village put you off - you can experience a nightlife in Caerleon that will match that of any city centre with its many pubs and restaurants.

Student Facilities

The School has some of the best technical resources of any Art School in the country and the Rathmell Building is one of the finest purpose-built complexes for the teaching of Art, Media and Design in Europe. The University has invested heavily over the years in buildings, plant and trained staff and the result is a range of facilities that allow professional, creative work to flourish. In addition, we are continually evaluating the types and quantities of equipment we offer in order to keep up with changes in technology and demand. In particular, we have invested in industry standard production systems in the areas of film, video, animation, sound and photography.

Student Support

The University offers a range of excellent support services for students. As well as on campus help and advice from the Students’ Union team there is a highly motivated careers advice team, a medical centre, disability services, 24hr free internet access in the computer suites, personal counselling and crisis support, Chaplaincy and Welfare Services, childcare facilities and particular help for overseas students from our dedicated international office.

For those of you looking to live on campus, we have approximately 650 self-catered single study bedrooms in a purpose built student complex, located on the Caerleon Campus. Every first year student who applies for accommodation before 1st September*, is guaranteed this provision.

The campus is safe, secure and friendly. Alternatively, you could choose to share a rented house in the city centre with some mates. The accommodation office maintains details of rented accommodation in the city centre, however the University is unable to inspect and therefore approve these properties. Again, transport from your rented accommodation to the campus could not be easier as we provide a free hourly bus service from the city centre during the daytime.

For further information regarding accommodation on or off campus, please feel free to contact our accommodation office.
