South East Essex College

South East Essex College is one of the largest colleges in the South East of England, with a long and successful track record in further and higher education.

Although the College has occupied its current site since 2004, it began life in 1899 as the Day Art School in Southend, and boasted a prestigious School of Architecture that continued until the 1960’s.

We provide a high quality educational experience to learners of all ages, from 14-19 year olds to undergraduates, adults and businesses.

The College is particularly strong in visual and performing arts; our teaching staff have extensive professional experience in their fields, with additional support from a range of external practitioners who maintain important links with contemporary practice.

Accommodation Services
We understand that you may be moving away from home for the first time and that finding secure, comfortable accommodation will be high on your list of priorities. South East Essex College plans to provide purpose-built student accommodation within walking distance of the College for October 2007. In addition, the surrounding area offers a wide variety of accommodation at a range of prices and we have a well-established Student Accommodation Scheme to help you find good quality, safe and secure private accommodation in the local area to suit your needs.

''The College staff helped me find my accommodation, which I came to view when I was over in the UK before my course started. The rent is £300 each per month (three of us in the house) plus bills, but it’s a really nice, safe area with nice neighbours and it’s a clean and spacious house. I’ve lived in this same house for the full three years I’ve been here''
