Ss. Cyril And Methodius University

The Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje was founded in 1949 consisting of three faculties and today it represents a family of twenty-three faculties, ten institutes and other institutions.

The present structure of the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University can be illustrated with the following figures: over 36,000 students from the Republic of Macedonia as well as over 700 foreign students are enrolled at all faculties; over 2,300 teaching and scientific staff and associates are engaged in the teaching, educational and scientific process at the faculties and over 300 at the institutes.

In its up-to present development of the University, over 100,000 students acquired their Bachelor degree, over 5,000 candidates obtained their master’s degrees while over 2,000 became doctors of science.

The overall activities of the University also include sport, artistic, informative, and recreational and other activities organized within many associations, clubs etc.

Our Aims

The Ss. Cyril and Methodius University’s mission is to be:

* autonomous, scientific and higher educational university that provides teaching, scholar and applicative activities in technical, natural sciences and mathematics, bio-technical, artistic, medical and social sciences;

* university devoted to the cherishing as well as the international affirmation of the traditional features and values of the Macedonian people such as: the Macedonian language, the history, the literature and culture of the Macedonian people and also the cultural values of the ethnic communities in the Republic of Macedonia;

* university open for all students on the basis of equality and their results regardless of their ideological, political, cultural and social background;

* university that concords its academic offer to the needs of its social surrounding, and has continuously dynamic relation towards it;

The Faculty of Dramatic Arts - Skopje, is an art faculty and a scientific - training institution on the domain of the dramatic arts, in which the university studies of the film, television and theatre domain are performed, through the art and scientific creativity, production and public presentation of the art achievement, as well as book editing and publication.
The university studies on the Film and TV Directing, Cinematography, Editing, Dramaturgy, Production, Acting and Theatre Directing departments, persist four years. On this Faculty the post graduated Theatrology studies are performed, as well.
The Faculty consists of teachers, all eminent directors, actors, cinematographers, scriptwrighters, editors, theorysts, students and associates. In the compound training process of the seven departments as well as the postgraduated studies 90 students and about fifty teachers and outside associates are included.

Faculty of Dramatic Arts:
The teaching staff and associates of the FDA is comprised of highly renowned names in the area of their expertise - actors, playwrighters, scene speech specialists, scene movements and dances, theorysts, history specialists and producers from our cultural - art life, directors, playwrighters, camera and editing specialists, producers - with enormous theoretical and practical knowledge. The majority of them have been awarded with acclaimed awards, life achievement awards, and tributes for special achievements and contributions for their creative work.

Student Facilities

The faculty of Dramatic Arts also includes the Studio for teaching production, distribution and archiving, which is equipped with film and TV equipment for production and postproduction. The Big scene is equipped for projection of different formats. The Library possesses 4200 books, film collection of 4500 films on 16 mm roll, 1200 video tapes and 200 DVD.

Student Support

Faculty of Dramatic Arts:
The extend of various contemporary teaching, gives the students the possibility to take part in realization of much production projects made in teaching frame, which produces big public interest, as well as realization of much professional production projects. Due to this the frequent participation of FDA as well as the students themselves, on every national and international festival where they have been awarded with acclaimed awards.  


Student Life

STUDENTS

In accordance with the legal regulations, the statutes and other legal acts, the students, as the major participants in the teaching and learning educational process, take part in all forms of university management through the Students' Union at the faculties and the University. They are members of the managing bodies of the faculties (the dean's management and the teaching and scientific board), in the bodies of the University (the University Senate and the Rector’s Board) and in all the UKIM commissions. They are also part of the commission for self-evaluation and evaluation of the faculties and UKIM.
