Mission Statement

The mission of The Art Institute of California — Los Angeles is to provide postsecondary education programs that will prepare students for entry-level employment in their chosen fields through market-driven curricula.  


Location and Getting there

From the West:

* Take the I-10 East, exit at Centinela Avenue.
* At bottom of exit ramp, turn left onto Pico Boulevard.
* Turn right onto Centinela Avenue.
* Turn right onto Ocean Park Boulevard and go to next traffic light (31st Street).
* Turn left onto 31st Street, and go to the second gated parking entrance on the right.
* The Art Institute of California — Los Angeles (2900) is the building on the right.

Student Facilities

Facilities & Resources

The Art Institute of California — Los Angeles occupies approximately 107,000 square feet. In addition to classrooms, studios, laboratories, offices, a student lounge, a library, and an exhibition gallery, The Art Institute maintains an art supply store for the convenience of students. The year-round average class size for The Art Institute of California — Los Angeles is 22 or fewer students. Class size, however, will not exceed 35 students in lab sessions or 40 students in lecture sessions. Equipment provided at The Art Institute of California — Los Angeles is specific to the program of study. This includes, but is not limited to, projectors, editing decks, PC and Macintosh computers, printers, and fully-equipped kitchens.  


Student Support

Counseling Services

The Art Institute of California – Los Angeles is committed to the emotional well being of our students. We offer confidential counseling services for our students at no charge, who may be dealing with challenges in their lives such as depression, anxiety or the loss of a relationship.

The Counseling Center offers weekly appointments with a counselor to help work through personal issues which may be affecting their school work, job or personal relationships. Students may meet with a counselor for up to 12 sessions. If a student needs a more ongoing therapeutic relationship, the Counseling Center has a list of low fee referrals to outside counseling agencies that have been approved by The Art Institute of California – Los Angeles Counseling Center.

The Counseling Center appointment hours are 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday.
Students may set appointments with one of our counselors by calling the Counseling Center at 310-314-6149.

 


Accommodation

The Office of Residential Life and Housing is committed to providing students with comfortable, convenient and high-quality housing options. Students are encouraged to successfully pursue their academic, personal and social goals with assistance from professional and student staff during their stay in the school-sponsored housing communities.

The Art Institute of California-Los Angeles contracts with several local luxury apartment complexes to provide housing to students who wish to live with in a community with other Art Institute students. Some benefits of school-sponsored housing are:

* Costs can be included in the student financial plan
* Opportunities to meet other Art Institute students
* Convenient locations to The Art Institute, shopping centers and several major freeways
* Professional Residential Life staff live on-site and are available to address student needs
* Social and educational programs are planned for students
