The Art League Of Long Island

The Art League of Long Island is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to broad-based visual arts education, providing a forum and showcase for artists of all ages and ability levels.

Since its inception in 1955, the mission has focused on enhancing Long Island's cultural life by promoting the appreciation, practice and enjoyment of the visual arts. ALLI offers a wide selection of classes, workshops, exhibits, lectures, museum tours, fine art and craft shows. Collaborative events and outreach programs spread the joy of creativity among every segment of the population.

* Visual arts instruction center serves 3,000 students per year, 7 days a week.
* Over 150 courses and workshops are offered 4 times per year for children, teens, adults and seniors
* Programs for disadvantaged children.
* Collaboration with adult UCP of Greater Suffolk Consumers to provide art enrichment.
* Partner with L.I. Head Injury Association to provide specialized art instruction.
* Special partner classes are tailored for parents and children.

Location and Getting there

NORTHERN STATE PARKWAY

(from the East) Take Exit 42N onto Deforest Road N ALLI is right at the corner of Deforest Road N and East Deer Park Road.

(from the West) Take Exit 42N. Head north on Deer Park Road (Route 231), under the overpass by Dix Hills Fire House. Follow the right fork in the road onto East Deer Park Road. ALLI is at the corner of Deforest Road N.
LONG ISLAND EXPRESSWAY

(from the East) Take Exit 51N onto Deer Park Road (Route 231) heading north. Continue for 2 miles until Dix Hills Fire House appears on the right. Follow the right side of the fork onto East Deer Park Road. ALLI is at the corner of Deforest Road N.

Department and information about the department

The Art League of Long Island offers over 150 classes and workshops each quarter. We offer classes in Drawing & Painting, Watercolor, Printmaking, Pastel, Sculpture & Jewelry, Clay, Computer Graphics, Decorative Arts, as well as, Ongoing Open Studios and more for Adults, Teens, and Children.

Our classes are conveniently offered in the morning, afternoon and evening and are available to all levels of experience: beginners through advanced. We also offer special Adult/Child Partner Classes, Workshops, and Tours.

Our Summer Art Adventure offers classes in a weekly day program for Kids & Teens.

Art League Artists Bring Joy to Senior Center
Residents - By Sketching Their Portraits

More than a dozen Art League portrait artists descended on the Bay Shore Senior Center this past fall. Armed with easels, pastels, and sketch pads. Under the direction of their Art League instructor, Donna Moraff, some of the League's finest portrait painters volunteered their day and skills to capture on paper likenesses of all the residents at the senior center residence.

The resident men and women willingly posed with their walkers and wheel chairs, visiting with the painters who recorded their likenesses on paper in charcoal and pastels. With much delight, each participant received a gift of his or her personal sketch at the end of the afternoon. Adding to the thrill of all, the portraits were then hung in the residence - for holiday distribution to visiting family members.
