The Australian National University

The ANU School of Art (SofA) specialises in training for professional careers in visual arts and design. It offers PhD, Masters, Honours and Bachelor Degrees and graduate and undergraduate Diploma workshop-based courses in a wide range of disciplines. The School also conducts an active non-award and public lecture program.
Established in 1976, the ANU School of Art has built a reputation as a leading arts educator offering undergraduate training in nine art and design disciplines— Ceramics, Glass, Gold and Silversmithing, Painting, Photomedia, Printmedia and Drawing, Sculpture, Textiles and Furniture. For enrolled students, a special feature of the ANU School of Art is its International Exchange Program. Through this program, students have the opportunity to study at University Schools of Art and Design in Asia, Europe, Canada and North America.

Westende Scholarships are awarded each year to assist selected School of Art students with their overseas travel.
In most cases exchange is possible from the nine disciplines offered at the School of Art. Student exchanges may be undertaken by both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The School of Art has established exchange and academic co-operation arrangements with institutions in countries such as China, Vietnam , Korea, Japan, Canada, America, Thailand, Indonesia, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Finland, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Spain and Sweden.

GALLERIES
There are three Gallery spaces: the ANU School of Art Gallery, the Foyer Gallery, and Photospace. Under the auspices of the ANU School of Art Gallery, annual exhibition programs are presented with related publications and associated events. The programs critically frame Australian visual art practice, present graduate and post-graduate work in a professional gallery context and reflect the international profile of the ANU School of Art.

Bursaries and Scholarships

Bursaries are available for students experiencing financial difficulties.

ANU Endowment Accommodation Bursary Scheme helps with accommodation expenses.

Individual Halls and Colleges also offer their own Bursaries and Scholarships to help met the costs of Accommodation.

How To Apply

Applications are welcome from school leavers and mature age students Australia wide and internationally. The ANU School of Art is part of the Universities Admission Centre (UAC) network, so all Australian and New Zealand undergraduate candidates must apply to UAC. A UAC application form is available in the Student Information Guide (SIG) issued to all NSW ACT year 12 students. A copy of the UAC SIG is available from any participating University or by writing to: UAC Locked Bag 112, Silverwater, NSW 2128
