The University Of Northampton

Awarded full university title and research degree awarding powers in 2005, The University of Northampton is a dynamic, modern university situated in the heart of England.
We believe in teaching contemporary Fine Art practice within a social and cultural context that values diversity and debate. The student's ideas are nurtured and developed in an environment that provides specialist media support, close interaction with the course team, visiting artists and other students. They will graduate with a unique balance of critical, practical and creative skills and abilities.
A significant feature of the course is the opportunity to move readily between media disciplines which fall under the broad headings of painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture, which embrace installation, digital imaging, video and performance. Those who wish to specialise in one discipline, may do so from the beginning of Level Two.

Information For  Undergraduates

The University of Northampton prides itself on supporting its undergraduate students throughout their studies.
We do everything possible to provide courses that will exceed, students' needs and aspirations. We offer an extensive portfolio of Single Honours or Specialist Honours degree courses that focus on either traditional subject areas, offer a contemporary focus, or target a dedicated career path.
If you prefer a broader-based degree with increased flexibility, our extensive Joint and Combined Honours (J&CH) programme provides a choice of around 40 different subjects.
Our two-year undergraduate courses, leading to either Higher National Diploma or Certificate (HND/C) or Foundation Degrees, have a more vocational slant with exciting opportunities for work-based learning.
Many of these courses can be 'topped-up' to an Honours degree through an additional year of study. Every course is split into smaller sections of topic-based learning called modules. Though some modules are compulsory, there are also a range of elective modules to choose from, enabling learning that can be tailored to personal interests or career aspirations.

Information For  Postgraduates

Postgraduate study, independent creative practice and art-related employment are available to graduates of Fine Art. Employment opportunities include arts organisation, gallery management, exhibition curating, photography, journalism, teaching, art therapy, theatre, film and television, or into less obviously related work where creative thinking is valued. MA in the Arts (Fine Art) or (Curatorial Studies) are offered as suitable progression within the School of the Arts.
