Artist: Alexander Small
Created On: 2007
Image Medium: Oil on sound
Image Dimensions: 38cm x 38cm 130cm
Art work Description:
This sound sculpture borrows from the science of cymatics using bass frequencies to generate forms in the paint. There are many relationships between the forms found in cymatics and the sacred symbols and diagrams found in various religions, establishing links between the material nature of the universe and ideas of the spiritual. The carbon material, bitumen paint can be seen as a link to the essential element to life or our material essence.
