Since ancient times, Japanese culture has believed that writing has a meaning
beyond mere language. It is a communicating with our soul and that is a very
holy act. Sho is a world drawn by words from the very depth of our soul, a reflection
of the greatest spirit. By using a brush with its inherent warmth and power,
it also reflects the artist's true self. It is art made with the most exquisite charm.
Sho is spatial beauty composed of white paper and black ink.
Only one color expresses all the seasons, all the other colors, all our five senses.
Especially work which can be said to be beyond the character of language becomes
mighty art as it expresses the writer's spirit.
I have been manifesting Sho as a kind of soul-art, a white and black game
which is beyond Western-style painting in its simple yet many- sided character.
