Art work Description:
The perception of sculptures derives from 'momentary delay' in a different way than from 'moments.' While 'moments,' as the basic units of change, make the necessary points for experience, 'momentary delay' reserves those points in order to create an empty space where all possibilities may meet. This may be especially distinguished in Yi Hwan-kwon's sculptures. Distorted and normal objects have noticeable similarities, but internal twists, fissures, narrowing time or flatness give us a feeling of observing the equal of an entirely different being. This may be the reason for the experience of sudden reduction of speed, and the expansion and diffusion into the imperceptible of the surrounding space. Such a simple relationship, yet such powerful results.
