Art work Description:
The motto of the Zurich Street Parade 2007 is „Respect“. Zurich artist Bernhard Winkler has expressed his support of this motto in painting a large work of the same name. The painting „Respect“ will be on show at the Zurich gallery LAST throughout the period of the Parade. Respect is the motto of the Zurich Street Parade 2007. The organisers urge participants to respect themselves, the people around them and Zurich itself by enjoying the event without drugs or excessive alcohol. Respect has been a central theme of Bernhard Winkler’s painting for years. The Zurich artist believes that individuals can only be truly happy and fulfilled if they respect themselves, those around them and the natural environment. More respect would mean greater peace, less drug dependency, better minority integration and fewer endangered species, for example. Underlining his support for the Street Parade motto, Winkler has recently completed a large work of the same name. „Respect“ uses a series of coloured lips, each carrying a symbol relating to a different aspect of respect. The painting, which measures 2.5 metres by 2.0 metres, will be on show at the Zurich gallery LAST from 4 August to 15 September 2007.
