Artist: Robin Hill
Created On: 2008
Image Medium: Wax and mica on wood
Image Dimensions: 10 x 10 x 2.5 cm
Art work Description:
Hill received her MFA from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1977. On faculty at UC Davis, since 2001 Hill makes work that ”rests in a state of suspended animation, speaking of possibility and potential rather than articulating a finite resolution, the subject of the work is work itself”.* These painting/sculpture contain elements from the by-gone era of 1940’s mass commercial production, along with luminously painted surfaces that resemble flesh. These combined elements create artistic machines, with a beautiful esthetic with no apparent purpose.
