Artist: La Fratrie
Created On: 2008
Image Medium: mousse polyuréthane, bois, acrylique, PVC
Image Dimensions: 35 x 24 x 21 cm
Art work Description:
In the work of La Fratrie, each piece is a world in itself: a terrestrial plane with vegetation and structures… Scaled back to the size of a maquette, these objects are fascinatingly precise and evocative. Their dimensions suggest children’s toys. The crystalline lens of the adult eye must contract in order to adapt to the scale. Cleaving to the interpenetration of pop culture and academic taste to produce new forms, the duo draw from numerous sources of inspiration for the duo, effortlessly combining art history with the history of television, environmental concerns and drugs. La Fratrie is interested in humans and in the world, and by extension in pollution, whether it be environmental or mental. Without wanting to position themselves as pedants, the two brothers sculpt modest allegorical worlds, like parts that make claims for the whole. Extracts from the text of Laetitia Chauvin for ParisArt
