Artist: Ju Ming
Image Medium: Bronze
Image Dimensions: 420×156×279㎝
Art work Description:
The Taiji Arch evolved from the “Push Hand” movements of two people practising Taiji boxing. Its emphasis is not on throwing one’s opponent off balance, neither does it aim at defeating one another. I applied the spirit of Taiji boxing to the Taiji Arch, where the sculptures are larger in scale and abstractions of the original Taiji Series. n this way, I gained greater freedom of expression. The Taichi Arch conveys the essence of my aesthetic views and creative philosophy, and my respect for nature. Thus, they are obviously important works in my artistic career. —From Interview with Ju Ming, Ju Ming Taiji Diaosu, p. 149.
