Art work Description:
Art Pottery : A Royal Doulton Advertiser Bibelot decorated with a dragonfly for Coal Tar Soap The bibelot is illustrated on page 260 of Desmond Eyles' "The Doulton Lambeth Wares". In the Doulton advertisement and is described there as an ashtray although they are generally referred to as Soap Dishes. The advert dates from 1935. This example is initialled WB for Winnie Bowstead. It measures 6" from edge to edge. Good Condition - light bubbling to the glaze around the Dragonfly which is normal for this model and from time of manufacture - very light signs of use as expected - no chips, no repairs and no lines Impressed mark on back: Specially designed and manufactured by the Royal Doulton Potteries for the proprietors of Wrights Coal Tar Soap - initials WB (Winnie Bowstead) 6 inches (15.5cm) length approx
