Exhibition Photo Description:
In 2006, John Currid shipped aboard a laker for its passage from Montreal to Lake Erie. His purpose was to discover and then, through photographic acts of aesthetic justice, to interpret for others an important but largely invisible lifeline that helps sustain the Great Lakes region of North America. In the result, Currid’s discovery is “Lakers,” a kingdom of steel, water, glass, and sky where revelatory beauty draws power from ideas distilled into existential form. Currid's "Lakers" will be exhibited as part of the 2007 CONTACT Photography Festival in the North and Centre Galleries of CSg parallel to the CONTACT Feature Exhibition of Maleonn ("Labyrinth") on display in the South Gallery.
