Contrary to the popular catchphrase of no hidden clauses or catches, many crucial aspects of our lives do come with restrictive ‘strings attached’. ‘Much Strings Attached’ showcases multimedia artist Uchay Joel Chima’s recent work on societal and relational themes that celebrate our human capacity for making connections.
Chima’s images of friendship, community and intimacy are created through such appropriate binding and connective materials such as string, rope, and knitting wool. Overall, his paintings have a great sense of depth and layering which reflect the profundity of human relationships.
