Exhibition Photo Description:
160 x 155 x 133 cm. Metal wire and wire mesh. / Dedicated to the snowboarders who are riding in paradise... / Zako is Spanish, although I think she’d probably say ‘Basque’. This former professional snowboarder has made a smooth transition into the art world, having already signed with some of the most prestigious Spanish galleries after only 3 short years in the game. Not much of a surprise when you’re as talented as she is. You are invited to discover her most recent pieces (2005-2006): wire sculptures – like snapshots of a 3D universe frozen in time, sooner seen on a computer screen than ‘live’ before your very eyes. The emphasis is on space, be it voluptuous playmates, a skater in the middle of a trick or a megastar of the silver screen. Zako minds the finest details; the proportions of her creations: perfect. Her works are made all the more interesting by the shadows they project, amplifying details and emphasizing the volume therein... Your eyes will wish for hands, and your hands for eyes.
