In March 1999 the planification to open the CalandraArte gallery in Manarola ( 5 Terre ) finally became reality, a private space dedicated to contemporary art. It is the first to be opened in the Cinque Terre and has by now become a point of reference for contemporary art and for those who value it.

The philosophy of the gallery is that of giving space and incentive for young emerging artists of assured talent, while not leaving out well established artists by putting them on the italian and international market organizing personal and collective exhibitions. In these years the major contemporary artists have exhibited, such as Natale Addamiano, Giuliano Ghelli, Francesco Musante and Antonio Possenti.

The gallery takes part in all the main Art Fairs, both national and international.
Sculptures, paintings and graphics make up the majority of the contents of the gallery although one can find watercolours, pastels and paintings of the Cinque Terre by local artists of unquestionable talent.
