GALERIE JAEGER BUCHER

The Jeanne Bucher Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of its new space, the JAEGER BUCHER GALLERY in the historical and innovative neighborhood of the Marais.
The GALERIE JAEGER BUCHER, whose name assimilates the two identities of its history and updates it, is moving to 5-7 rue de Saintonge in the Marais, in two spaces equalling 1968 Sq. ft. redesigned by the famous French architect Dominique Perrault.

The inaugural exhibition EXPANSION-RESONANCE gathers around the questions of space and time, in a dialogue with some of the tutelary artists of Jeanne Bucher's gallery like Maya, Sepik, Olmec and Dogoon sculptures, as well as pieces by Giacometti, Kandinsky, Klee, Léger, Masson, Miro, Ernst, Tobey, Bissière, Staël, Vieira da Silva, Szenes et Dubuffet, through one selected work by each artist, the work of nine international artists, who will be exhibited in 2009 and 2010 at the gallery: Michael Biberstein, Zarina Hashmi, Rui Moreira, Hanns Schimansky, Susumu Shingu, Pat Steir, Fabienne Verdier, Paul Wallach, Yang Jiechang.

SUSUMU SHINGU - Planet of Wind and Water

FROM 15 MAY - 26 SEPTEMBER 2009

The gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of sculptures by Japanese artist Susumu Shingu. After the success of the first presentation Breathing sculptures, this second show entitled Planet of Wind and Water presents 10 new indoor sculptures of wind and water accompanied by works on paper. The show also introduces the diorama of Breathing Earth, Shingu’s most ambitious art project consisting in the construction of a self-sufficient village living from the natural energies of wind, water and sun, which are the result of Shingu’s knowledge on these natural phenomena acquired over the past 50 years. A travelling exhibition of Breathing Earth will take place before the final choice of its building site. The exhibition will also show a 33 mns film entitled Susumu SHINGU which has been realized for our exhibition by the German director Thomas Riedelsheimer, with interviews of the artist and shots of his worldwide sculptures moving with natural energies. An English/Japanese DVD has been made of this film and is distributed along with the exhibition ... [ Read all ]
