Bendigo Art Gallery

Established in 1887, Bendigo Art Gallery is one of the oldest and largest regional galleries in Australia. A major renovation program has resulted in the restoration of the 19th century rooms and the addition of new gallery spaces for sculpture and contemporary Australian art. The Gallery schedules regular programs and events to complement the exhibition dynamic temporary exhibition program and permanent collection display, including artists’ talks, guest speaker events, workshops, education activities and tours.

Artists Represented

Bendigo Art Gallery has an extensive and varied collection with an emphasis on 19th century European art and Australian art from 1800s onwards, and a strong contemporary Australian art collection including works by Patricia Piccinini, Rosalie Gascoigne, Fiona Hall, Bill Henson, Ricky Swallow, Jan Nelson, Rosemary Laing, Tracey Moffatt, Dale Frank and Stephen Bush.

Bendigo Art Gallery is located in the middle of the state of Victoria, a 1.5 hour drive north from Melbourne, or train from Melbourne's Southern Cross Station.
