Galería Tataya

GALER√ćA TATAYA opened its doors in June 2006. We are a contemporary art gallery with emphasis on living Mexican and Cuban artists. Most are mid-career but we also have a few emerging artists. With over 100 works on display, we hold the largest collection of Cuban art in the Yucat√°n Peninsula and one of the main collections in Mexico, including international artists such as Rub√©n Rodr√≠guez (MoMA and Tate Modern) and Carlos del Toro to name only a few. Medium: painting, drawing, print and photograph. Our interest also includes the finest examples of ¬®artesan√≠as¬® (handcraft) from all over Mexico. Pieces include metalwork, ceramics, lacquer and wood carving. Most pieces are ¬®one-off¬® and many are signed by the artists, such as Carlomagno Pedro Mart√≠nez and Irma Blanco who have both exhibited in the US and Europe. Most artesans we represent have works displayed in the permanent collections of the MAP (Museo de Arte Popular / Handcraft Museum) in Mexico City.
We hold 3 - 4 exhibitions a year.
In August 2010, we moved our gallery to Santa Ana, Merida¬īs Art District.
