a.antonopoulou.art gallery was founded in 2001, while its owner/director Angeliki Antonopoulou has an overall twenty-year background in contemporary art, having previously worked at the Epikentro gallery as co-owner. The gallery focuses in young, Greek and International artists, born in 1960 and forth. One of the gallery's main characteristics is that it hosts exhibitions of a variety of art forms such as painting, sculpture, photography, installations and videos.
Part of the gallery’s activities is the production and organisation of exhibitions in other locations, as part of bigger events, such as in Patras European Capital of Culture 2006, in the International Book Fair of Frankfurt in 2001 etc.

Aliki Panagiotopoulou
"The Infinite Chambers of the Beehive that is the World"

a.antonopoulou.art presents the first solo exhibition of Aliki Panagiotopoulou in Greece on Thursday, January 8th 2009.
The artist tells stories through her drawings. From her tiny, detailed drawings with pencil to the works with the rough brushwork, this exhibition deals with the complementary relations between opposites as the impetus which causes changes and variety in the world.
To be more precise, the series of pencil drawings (entitled “All is fair in love and War”) centre on the love and sexual behaviors (and neurosis) of humans, male and female, homosexual and heterosexual, in the way that they are retained through a partly autobiographical and partly anthropological angle.
Her drawings are basically an experiential enactment of fantasies, obsessions, memories and observations of our sexual behaviors, extending from the romantic and tender to the undoubtedly violent and hardcore.
