Alex McCulloch

A once abandoned car park, McCulloch Gallery has risen to take its place among the laneways of Melbourne and the Art Galleries of the City.

Framed by the work of some of Melbourne’s best street artists, the laneway entrance holds a clue to what you will discover as you wander towards the Gallery. A vital splash of colour seeps out onto the concrete strip, as this blank canvas is transformed every three weeks into a feast of art in different media.

Dedicated to the support of emerging young artists, Director Alex McCulloch curates shows of all descriptions, from photography to painting, sculpture to street art face offs. The constant shifting of theme and talent gives the Gallery its unique and energetic vibe. On any given Friday artists, viewers and buyers alike can be found drinking in the sight…and wine… to the tune of exuberant conversation.

Yet there is a serious side to the Gallery, as you will discover when entering the stockroom, where rare works by Howard Arkley, John Perceval, David Larwill, Tim Storrier, Robert Jacks and John Olsen are hung. Here you can be treated to the ... [ Read all ]

We live in a time of significant environmental change, with a growing awareness of the impact we are having on our planet. In southern Australia the prospect of increasing periods and severity of drought appears very real. Location And Getting There

McCulloch Gallery is located at 8 Rankins Lane Melbourne 3000. Rankins Lane is off Little Burke Street and in between Elizabeth and Queen St. The train station closest to the gallery is Melbourne Central.
