Artereal

ABOUT ARTEREAL
Artereal was founded in March 2006 and is housed in a restored 1890s heritage fire station building in Sydney’s inner west. Artereal has been established as a space for contemporary art with a focus on exhibitions with significant international content and heavy curatorial influence.

Artereal represents mid career and established artists while providing exhibition opportunities for emerging artists.
Exhibitions include: photography, painting, sculpture, drawing, video, print making and installation, with an exciting and varied program of curated group and solo exhibitions.

Artereal encourages variety and experimentation in contemporary art practice and aims to promote a greater appreciation for the vital role that artists play in our local and broader community.

Current Exhibitions

Cranium

Until 3 July 2010

A curated group exhibition of Artereal and invited artists supporting the breakthrough medical research of the Garvan Institute.

The cranium is the carapace for the brain, the centre of intellect, the organ of thought and feeling, the site of inspiration and creativity and other ways of knowing.
Artists in this exhibition explore the many associated aspects of this area of the body; the physical, psychological, the scientific, the spiritual, its place in art history or popular culture.

Forthcoming Exhibitions

Anne MacDonald

Cherish

Photographic series of objects that are pink in colour, chosen for their symbolic references to femininty, cuteness and sweetness. Depicting childhood as a state of transience and enchantment.
