Beaconsfield

Beaconsfield offers a space for artists and audiences to experience high quality (hence ‘beacon’), challenging, new artworks in a wide range (hence ‘field’) of contemporary visual art media through commissions, group exhibitions, performances, publications and events. Set up in 1994 the organisation is still run by its two artist-founder-directors – David Crawforth and Naomi Siderfin - who work collaboratively with the artists they commission from their base in the former Lambeth Ragged School in Vauxhall, central London. The venue retains its historical and architectural character.

We Are History
John Timberlake in Conversation with Martin Myrone and Joy Sleeman

Friday 25 July at 6.30pm
as part of SLAM Fridays

John Timberlake’s largest work to date throws up intriguing questions with its recall of the staged photograph and earlier traditions of apocalyptic landscape painting.

The artist’s talk with Martin Myrone, Lead Curator, pre 1800 British Art at Tate Britain and Joy Sleeman, lecturer in History and Theory of Art at UCL Slade School of Fine Art will focus on our contemporary relationship with the landscape genre through the shifting lens of visual art media.
