Brandywine Workshop

Founded in 1972, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based Brandywine Workshop is a nonprofit institution committed to cultural diversity in the creation, practice and appreciation of the fine arts and the promotion of printmaking as a fine art form.

Brandywine programs provide established, world class artists with support, and emerging artists with specialized training and services in printmaking. We encourage creative collaboration and innovative approaches to printed images.

The mission of the Brandywine Workshop is to be a major force in the creation, development and promotion of printmaking as a fine art, creating opportunities for culturally diverse ethnic groups to participate in the fine visual arts and related art technologies.

News

Brandywine Workshop has plans to redesign its main entrance to take advantage of Brandywine’s strategic location on the Avenue of the Arts and to substantially increase its visibility and public presence. The Workshop is also providing an attractive and safe entranceway for the more than 90 workers and dozens of daily visitors to the print shop building. The key elements of the project include:

Restoration and Preservation of the historic gray stone façade of the firehouse building (730-732 S. Broad Street), including cleaning, painting, trim repair/replacement and stone repairs as needed.

Design and construction of a new glass main entrance and lobbies on the northern wall of the firehouse building.

Design and construction of a new landscaped plaza, with paving and lighting, connecting the firehouse and the print shop building, on adjacent vacant lots (720 – 728 S. Broad Street).
