Drawing Room

DRAWING ROOM is a non-profit making organization, initiated in 2000. It is programmed and managed by its co-founders and Directors, Mary Doyle, Kate Macfarlane and Katharine Stout, who have over twenty years experience of working in the arts. The gallery has no core funding and supports itself through earned income, sponsorship, individual giving and grants from public bodies.

DRAWING ROOM attracts a wide audience including art professionals, students and the general public interested in advances in contemporary art and drawing in particular. Our work is disseminated through an In-Conversation programme, Drawing Pad projects, publications and touring exhibitions to regional museums and galleries in the UK. Drawing Room also collaborates with organizations abroad on exhibitions and projects.

DRAWING ROOM is the only London based non-academic partner of The International Centre for Fine Art Research, University of the Arts, a high profile network of museums, galleries and academic institutions in Europe and America.

The Nakeds
Drawing Room, 24 September to 29 November 2014

Drawing Room is pleased to present The Nakeds, an exhibition devoted to drawings of the body exposed. The Nakeds takes as its starting point selected drawings of the single, naked figure by Egon Schiele. From here, it considers work on paper by male and female artists from the post-war period to the present day who are similarly interested in the representation of the body exposed and drawing as the means to express psychosexual states.
