EE Fine Art

About the Gallery
Founded in 2005 by Louise and Mark Stephenson, EE Fine Art is dedicated to exhibiting emerging and established Russian and of Eastern European artists. We source original work by artists, most whom are graduates of outstanding schools of art in their native countries. Within these schools the skills of icon restoration and techniques of the Renaissance Masters are taught to students who then bring this mastery to their own contemporary work. Since the break-up of the Soviet Union and subsequent fewer restrictions towards styles of painting, such as ‘social realism’, a new dynamic fresh approach has been replaced with artists seeking to establish their own style often searching for their own roots.
Many of our artists have received prestigious national and international awards with their works being permanently exhibited museums around the world. We have an impressive and ever growing collection of exquisite, museum quality original artworks including commissioned pieces.
Working with distinguished critics and curators, EE Fine Art brings a bold new perspective to the art world and creates... [ Read all ]

Patterns and Passions

21 October - 10 November, 2009

EE Fine Art is proud to present the first solo exhibition in the UK by the Romanian artist, Dimisca Laurentiu. Laurentiu’s acrylic paintings are richly worked and full of colour and spontaneity. His paintings contain a strong sense of narrative, effortlessly fusing imagination with reality. The complex shapes and patterns he uses present the impression of movement: his paintings are filled with a dancing rhythm that bounds out of the canvas giving a sense of joy and vitality to the onlooker. The bold outlines, shapes and colours this Romanian artist uses, have a tribal flavour to them whilst also reminding the viewer of naive or folk painting; however his paintings are deeply complex in narrative and meaning. Laurentiu takes his inspiration from mythologies and the folk tales of his childhood, and transforms them into glorious works of art. “Is he a painter? Philosopher? Both, carry him un-doubtably to the peak of the art. As all the artists of the world, he is a defender of the freedom of creation. Realism and Utopia lead his hand, he hurries, paints fast, there are man... [ Read all ]

At the Water’s Edge

30 September - 20 October, 2009

EE Fine Art is proud to present a solo exhibition by the acclaimed Russian artist, Eugene Ivanov. A member of The Artists Union of Latvia, Ivanov has been painting and drawing for many years. His amazing and original use of watercolour on textured paper marks him out from his peers. His figurative paintings are influenced by cubism, but his choice of subject matter (mainly street life and scenes), and the humour he infuses into them, give them a style and originality all of their own. His landscapes are also very impressive, more subtle than his figurative work they float on the edge of consciousness. He uses the watercolour with outstanding expertise and skill, creating fascinating, delicate landscapes. The textures he achieves are captivating, whilst the freshness of colour in his paintings and confidence with which he paints give his work a unique luminosity. Eugene Ivanov made his first painting in 1988 and since then he has created over 900 graphics and paintings. Since 1989 Ivanov has actively participated in both group and solo exhibitions. His first solo exhibition ... [ Read all ]
