Fighting Cocks Group

Fighting Cocks Group (FCG) was established on 27 June 2010 and located in Yogyakarta. It’s members is including three alumni of ISI Yogyakarta; Multazam Kamil, Moch Basori and Nurul Hayat (Acil). The major activity of FCG is to create and support contemporary fine art in Indonesia, as well as inviting other artists to participate in every group-working program, either for experienced artists or beginner artists.

FCG allows discourse exploration regarding the progress fine art discourse in social context. For that reason, the main focus of FCG is to create dynamic activity space, which is sustainable as well as independent and not depending on conventional structure-infrastructure in recent fine art world. FCG also expands the educative activity through fine art workshop program with NGOs, universities, communities and schools.

The discourse exploration is also interpreted as a sustainable effort or exploring positive and independent creativity power in order to creating transformation instrument of an art product that can be a unique cultural asset and having economic value, or event political value. ... [ Read all ]

Artists Represented

Multazam Kamil
Multazam (Zam) Kamil (b. 1969) speak of the little poetic moments in life, the fallibilities of the human spirit, moods and situations in life. Matters relating to the material and the physical are left behind – in Zam Kamil’s painted world, one finds a sense of wonder towards nature; unceasing attempts to capture the depths of human sensations; and distilled essence of life’s milestones. The simplified and abstracted silhouette figure is a leitmotif in Zam Kamil’s paintings; it is also in them that we recall the bold early 20th century Fauvist manifestos of noted modernists like Andre Derain and Henri Matisse affirming the expressive potency of color and artistic freedom from academic realism.

Moch Basori
Moch Basori (b. 1971) uses painting as a media to depict human condition including himself. For him, the understanding of others is as important as understanding himself. This paradigm is shape by his interest in kejawen (Javanese mysticism). However, painting is just one of his artistic activities.
