Galerie Quynh

Galerie Quynh is the leading contemporary art gallery in Vietnam. Initially promoting several of Vietnam’s pioneering abstract painters, the gallery has since embraced a wider international program. In addition to promoting a select group of artists working in Vietnam, Galerie Quynh also exhibits the work of artists based overseas, allowing the local community and visitors access to a diverse range of contemporary art practice.

The gallery is targeted by international curators as the first choice for traveling exhibitions to Southeast Asia. Galerie Quynh participates in symposiums on regional art and arts management hosted by institutions such as the Osaka City University and TheatreWorks in Singapore, and exhibits annually at Art Hong Kong. Working with galleries and curators internationally, we also promote education through artist talks and published texts in both Vietnamese and English.

Galerie Quynh was founded in 2000 by Vietnamese-American art critic Quynh Pham and Robert Cianchi (British) as an online resource dedicated to the Vietnamese art scene. A physical gallery space in Ho Chi Minh City ... [ Read all ]

Current Exhibitions

'drop' – a group exhibition of work by Tiffany Chung, Ha Manh Thang, Sandrine Llouquet, Nguyen Manh Hung, Tran Van Thao, Truc-Anh and Lien Truong.
Featuring a number of new and recent works never before seen at the gallery, the exhibition brings together some of the gallery’s artists in unusual and unexpected encounters. Tran Van Thao presents a new series of joyful abstract paintings alongside mysterious and brooding sculptures of paper and metal by Truc-Anh. Nguyen Manh Hung unveils a new painting that humorously retells a familiar fable while Ha Manh Thang shows landscapes that raise ideas about monumentality and doubt. Tiffany Chung and Lien Truong exhibit poetic chronicles of traumatic topographies through different creative processes; and Sandrine Llouquet, in her idiosyncratic disturbing and fantastical style, presents drawings incorporating the pharmaceutical product methylene blue.

Press Releases

April 25, 2014

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam – Galerie Quynh is pleased to present “Ho®s-Sol” (Soil-Less®), an exhibition of new works by Nadège David. The artist’s first solo exhibition at the gallery comprises drawings and sculptures that examine and question the connection between Human and Animal.
Expressing a deep engagement with and concern for issues that explore the univocal aspect of this fragile relationship, David’s works are inspired by a fascination with anatomy, science, philosophy and human behaviour, as well as socio-political and economic realities.
“Ho®s-Sol” refers to the displacement of animals from their soil and their native state of being, transformed into mere objects, functional only in a multitude of categories made up by mankind. The ® alludes to this humanised identification and objectification of animals, and their metamorphosis into merchandised property.
David explores the specific relationships that mankind has created with animals, their diversity apparent in her artwork titles – arranged in a scientific, entomological categorization with initials and numbers l... [ Read all ]
