Press Releases

Gallery Marks Anniversary.

A RIPON art gallery is celebrating its first anniversary.
To celebrate the special event, ‘the gallery’ on Kirkgate, Ripon is showing new work from Jo Dixon, one of Britain's best young artists and one of the stars of the recent 'Alice in Wonderland' exhibition.

Jo's pictures of young children were very popular at 'the gallery's' Alice exhibition, and there are more images from her on show in the new exhibition.

Also on show is work by other young emerging artists at the forefront of contemporary art, as well as works from 'the gallery's' 20th century modern artist collection. There are also prints, jewellery, furniture and felt sculptures by Yorkshire artists.

Since 'the gallery' opened in 2006 it has held a very varied succession of selling exhibitions, including Modern Masters with works by artists including Picasso, Matisse, Chagall, Henry Moore and Anthony Gormley; 17th and 18th century Roman architectural etchings; contemporary art from tutors at the courses run at Old Sleningford and lithographs from the Great Exhibition.
