LA Artcore Brewery Annex

LA Artcore is a non profit organization providing two exhibition spaces for the presentation of innovative contemporary artists of diverse cultural backgrounds and a forum for dialogue between artists and their audience. Through these spaces LA Artcore can present regional and international exhibits that help develop the arts in a way that encourages a vibrant and dynamic community. LA Artcore provides educational programs and workshops to expand and assist viewers, particularly in undeserved communities, in understanding the contemporary visual language.

LA Artcore promotes art that captures the culturally diverse spirit of the Southern California art community, by educating and cultivating an appreciation for the value of the visual arts and creativity.

LA Artcore is dedicated to expanding the interaction between artists and audiences. LA Artcore is pleased to present the work of Los Angeles artists’ Charles Dickson, Joyce Kohl and Robert Mauthe.

Charles Dickson is a Los Angeles-based artist who uses a variety of media to create three-dimensional artwork and sculpture. Dickson incorporates both his life experiences and urban environment to create pieces that speak to a diverse audience as well as express different perspectives of the African American experience.

Joyce Kohl’s mixed-media sculptures involve a juxtaposition of the ancient and the contemporary both in form and content. Kohl uses industrial materials such as steel and rebar for structure and then contrasts these elements with material such as adobe. Kohl’s sculptures evoke architecture and artifacts and their deliberate ambiguity, raises questions about cultural activities regarding the functional and spiritual.

Featuring seven artists from Naples employing various disciplines including painting, photography and sculpture, this exhibition, occupying both of Artcore’s galleries, serves to continue its contact and dialogue with an international community of artists and arts professionals and equally serves to promote this extended cultural interaction within the greater Los Angeles community.

Location And Getting There

LA Artcore Brewery Annex is located inside the Brewery Art Colony complex - off N. Main Street, just west of the Golden State Freeway underpass (at Daly Street), in the industrial area north-east of downtown Los Angeles. Look for building with tall "Brewery" chimney.
