Lesya Kara-Kotsya

Olesya Kara-Kotsya grew up in Vilshana - the part of Ukraine which brought to world such famous Ukrainians as Taras Shevchenko, Kateryna Bilokur, Vitaly and Volodymyr Klichko. But now she is working in Kiev - the capital of Ukraine and sometimes goes to Vilshana .
How old is she? She never says and only answers, 'I must be...not that youthful, as I sometimes feel a kind of fatigue in my body, but only after a 15-hour working day'. Olesya paints pictures which mostly attract childrens' attention and she's like a child herself. She always tries to remember how she acted in one situation or another when she was a small child. She refuses to become grown-up!
In 2006 Olesya Kara-Kotsya graduated from the National Academy of Fine Art and Architecture, Kiev, Ukraine.
In her arts career she has already participated in 10 all-Ukrainian exhibitions, several international festivals and has held about 10 solo axhibitions in Kiev.

Travelling SOLO-exhibition of the paintings by Lesya Kara-Kotsya
“Horoscopes or Zodiac in Ukrainian”

A famous Ukrainian artist Lesya Kara-Kotsya presents a new series of her paintings from 1 till 30 September. She wonders how totally different people are combined under one sign of Zodiac and consequently have common traits of character. “It’s interesting to me that people are compared with animals or signs, – Lesya says. – There appears unity of a symbol and a human”. That is why almost all her signs of Zodiac have human faces that are out-going and friendly. That is really so, because kids are born with naïve and clear souls. From the very first day of life everybody is accompanied with a symbol – a caring guardian angel. But as years pass by, people change and gain bad traits. Despite this their symbols stay as kind as before.

Bright and fairy-tale paintings by Lesya Kara-Kotsya help us return to childhood, recall our secret dreams and fall in love with our lives, because only children can be openly glad of it!

Come to Lesya Kara-Kotsya’s exhibition in September and see the way your sign of Zodiac... [ Read all ]
