LipanjePuntin Artecontemporanea

Founded in 1995 near Trieste’s Piazza Unità, Europe’s largest seaside square, LipanjePuntin artecontemporanea supports both rising and established international artists who express themselves with traditional media and the latest fine-art technology.

The gallery primarily focuses on contemporary photography and explores artistic research in this field. Of particular interest is how artists shoot images, transcribe and integrate them using digital technology, and depict scenes that convey personal and penetrating interpretations of present-day reality.

To celebrate its 10th year anniversary, LipanjePuntin artecontemporanea opened its second site in the center of Rome, close to Campo de’ Fiori and Piazza Navona - home to the most prestigious galleries in the Italian capital.

Antonio Riello: Acriter & Fideliter
October 20 - December 10

LipanjePuntin artecontemporanea – Roma is proud to present Acriter & Fideliter, a solo exhibition of new works by Antonio Riello (1959, Marostica - Italy), curated by Jonathan Turner.

Antonio Riello is one of Europe’s most eclectic, visionary and controversial artists, working in techniques as varied as painting, sculpture, design, photography, installation and video-games. Incorporating the ironic manner of a conceptual charade, Riello manipulates and almost mistreats the images and objects which he invents.

In Acriter & Fideliter, Riello focuses on one his recurring themes: weaponry and the military world. The artist has invented a series of spears and lances reinterpreted as possible objects of design. These artistic creations are the uncanny hybrids between Swiss army knives (in the most complex and super-accessorized versions) and medieval poleaxes. The objects in question are actual sculptures but Riello has rendered this project even more surreal by representing these weapons as monumental photographs. Just like in the study or huntin... ANTONIO RIELLO Onlythegood.org
a web project presented by Jonathan Turner

Thursday November 26 from 6pm

Roma - Italy

To coincide with Antonio Riello’s solo show Acriter et Fideliter, LipanjePuntin artecontemporanea – Roma is proud to present Onlythegood.org, an event taking place on Thursday November 26 from 6 pm.
Curator Jonathan Turner will be presenting Riello’s latest project, a collaboration with Simionato & Son, two graphic designers from Australia, and the Dutch computer artist Reinier Feijen.

The project begins with the question: what would happen if the mass media started to divulge only the good news?

Onlythegood.org is therefore conceived as a social experiment, an online, free, daily “newspaper” which issues only positive news stories selected in real time from the world’s most important press agencies. People today seem to be “addicted to news” and life is deeply influenced by media, for the most part controlled by corporations and powerful figureheads. Journalists reporting on tragic events (ecological disasters, terrorism, crimes and climate changing) often aim to p... [ Read all ]
