MARGINI Arte Contemporanea

In 2008 Andrea Orlandini launched MARGINI arte contemporanea, the first contemporary art gallery in Massa (Tuscany).
The gallery spread over the three floors and spacious underground room of a futuristic building in the heart of Massa, a tourist resort located between Carrara, renowned for its marble workshops, and Pietrasanta, well-known for the presence of numerous artistic foundries.
In a growing contemporary art scene, Margini aims to offer Italian and international artists a platform to showcase their artworks and promote emerging artists’ developments through a series of initiatives such as an innovative residency project.

SIMONE IALONGO

IL VISIBILE | L’ INVISIBILE

Text by Ilaria Castellino

We are led to believe that whatever our senses perceive exist; however, in the same way ,can we say that all we cannot perceive does not exist?

Ialongo Simone walks on the boundary line marked by our perception. He alternates his steps, one foot in the concrete ground of the material and the other in the subtle concept one.

He hides the reality to our senses and reveals evident moments, energies or thoughts.

Black on white. White on black.

He subverts the orders bypassing the expectations of the viewer. He does not disappoint his senses, on the contraty, he directs and educates them towards unpredictable conclusions according to logical deductions and unusual paths.

See and touch a concept. Abstract and imagine the matter.
Use your senses as your thought and viceversa.
Jump connections and points of reference.

If we have an illuministic confidence in the objectivity of things – or in what we rationally conceive as real (and comforting) – here the doubt creeps in. What ‘s in front of your eyes are realitues which deny and meanwhi... [ Read all ]
