Since Larasati's first auction held on 30 April 2000 in Jakarta, Indonesia, the regional auction house’s reputation has grown rapidly for auctioning rare and emerging Indonesian as well as other Asian works at record prices. In 2003, Larasati marked a milestone in its pursuit to become a major player in the Asian market, with its entry into Singapore and becoming the first Asian-based auction house that crossed national borders.

In 2009, Larasati became the first auction house from Southeast Asia to enter Hong Kong, the third largest auction market in the world. One East Larasati's upcoming Spring sale in Hong Kong invites the public to view its new collection by Southeast Asian Artists. The Preview will showcase important works by Indonesian Masters like Adrien Jean Le Mayeur De Merpres and Willem Gerard Hofker alongside Vietnamese pioneers like Bui Xuan Phai and Le Pho.


The Modern and Contemporary section will feature established artists such as R.E Hartanto, J. Ariadhitya Pramuhendra and Gede Mahendra Yasa amongst many others.

SEES AN INCREASE OF 211% ON THE TOTAL SALES FIGURE


[June 1, 2010. Hong Kong] On an afternoon in Hong Kong that saw a new world record for Affandi's Three Faces, One East Larasati Southeast Asian Modern and Contemporary art sales in Hong Kong achieved an increase of 211% on the total sales figure compared to its sale last November.

The auction was highlighted by the outstanding success of Affandi's Three Faces which sold for a record of HK$3,776,000, breaking the previous world record for any work of Affandi at auction. The star lots of the auction were Hendra Gunawan's Kuda Lumping and Lee Man Fong's Three Horses which fetched HK1,534,000. and HK$1,298,000 respectively. Other anticipated work to come to market from private collections were Ernst Agerbeek's "The Card Game" (1927) sold at HK$212,400, over 200% above the estimate while the Indonesian master Arie Smit's "Landscape of Bali" achieved HK$212,400, also over 200% above the esti... Larasati's upcoming boutique sale will be a bold move away from their usual offerings of oil, watercolors and sculptures. The new collection will boast a special section comprising not more than 20 lots of multi-media art pieces. These artworks are modular such that they are scalable to fit into any collectors' homes and display spaces.
Each of these works estimates not more than S$5,000 and are excellent starting pieces for the budding collectors.

The collection will also include works by younger generation of artists who may have been somewhat overlooked but yet have a profound impact on the development of modern and contemporary Filipino paintings. Artists presenting are; Kiko Escora, Renato Barja Jr. and Ian Quirante.

Also available at the auction are works by contemporary greats like R.E. Hartanto, Pintor Sirait, Ugy Sugiarto and Astari.
