Forthcoming Exhibitions

'Body Art Renaissance' running from the 28th of January till the 22th of February
‘The Body Art Renaissance’ intends to pay homage to the original Polymorph Body Art Gallery by providing a platform for artists to explore notions of flesh and the body either living, dead or inanimate in a contemporaneous sense. Some of the immaculate concepts revolve around physical limits, age and life spans as well as avenues of sexuality and identity.

'Hyperbolic Kitsch'
running from the 25th of February till the 22nd of March
Since the onset of post-modernism the divide between art, design and craft, both high art and low art have been irrevocably blurred and kitsch is the perfect embodiment of this phenomenon. With an original denotation simply ‘in poor taste’, kitsch’s ridiculous vapidity and often over stylised aesthetic has moved from a pejorative into an accepted art form owing to its ironic nature.

Press Releases

Emerging from a decade-long hiatus, Polymorph Art Gallery is back! Returning to the Sydney art scene in January 2009, Polymorph Art Gallery will show the cream of Australian and international contemporary artists, with the diversity and unconventionality you’d expect from Polymorph. The official re-launch group exhibition, ‘The Body Art Renaissance’ is set to open on Wednesday the 28th of January from 7-9pm featuring Will Coles new plasma concrete television and a mobile phone made entirely of his own frozen blood which is to melt on the opening, more meaty feminist photography by Louise Spence Onat as well as performances by Gretchen Riordan, to name but a few.
