Propaganda

PROPAGANDA GALLERY, based in Warsaw, is dedicated to the promotion of Polish and Israeli art and their integration to the intenatonal art context. Founded in 2007 as appendix2 gallery by renowed art critic and curator Paweł Sosnowski have since featured over 30 shows. Small is Big (group show):At some moment Marcel Duchamp decided to gather all of his oeuvre in one, concise set. He prepared copies, replicas and reproductions of all of his 69 works and then collected them in a diligently designed container. The luxury edition of Boîte-en-valise consisted of no less than 20 copies finished with luxury leather. Each one of them was considered to be a unique work of art. The concept itself was defined as “a new interpretation of a museum practice”. Discussed gesture manifested that the importance of scale is nothing in confront to a real artwork; that the small piece can be as representative for an artist as a work of a grand scale.

SMALL IS BIG exhibition applies Duchamps strategy outside it’s original use. We aim to show that lesser forms can be as representative as the best known works; that a little picture can have an impact of a monumental canvas; an insignificant photograph convey a powerful quantum of emotion; and that a 10 seconds of a video can be more pointing and meaningful than full-time feature.

Both, the exhibition and the auction are addressed above all to the collectors.... [ Read all ]
